That reminds me, decriminalizing weed would neutralize the drug cartel to some extent, reduce prison costs and the tax revenue generated would be enormous.
I have never been a drinker (beyond the occasional glass of wine w/ dinner) or an inhaler of weed (okay once - it gave me a headache), but in high-school I wrote a paper arguing that if alcohol (which destroys the liver and shortens life) is legal, then so should weed. And today I could argue for medical reasons.

When I was in high school, we had a thing where high school seniors took over the city council for an evening. I think it was called Students in Government. I was the first selectman and introduced a resolution to legalize marijuana and rammed it through. The real city council was there and threw a fit. This was all live on the radio. It made for much entertainment as all these old white guys screamed at me...but I had the mic.
I haven't touched the stuff in decades, but I enjoyed it when I was younger. And I don't recall passing out cold or smashing my car into a bridge abutment while stoned.
Atrios has been using the DFH term ironically to point out that the bloggers have been right on Iraq, mortgages, torture, etc. all along, while the mainstream media has missed the boat repeatedly. We left wing scum have an irritating habit of being right most of the time. It's really interesting to see Coultergeist and Pigboy and Manatee trying to claim we were right in Vietnam and that we would have won except for the DFH. That's how removed from reality they are.
